Erythrite is a soft mineral from the Vivianite Group. It earned its name from the Greek word erythros meaning red.
This specimen comes from a shaft of a well-known, old copper mine in Killarney- The Muckross. On this fairly-sized specimen, Erythrite forms a bright pink crust with numerous micro-crystals in a shape of small "bubbles". The real beauty of this specimen can be discovered under magnification, therefore we would advice viewing it under the microscope or magnifying glass.
The stone measures up to 9.5cm (3.77inch) and weighs 225g.
